The X-Files: I Want to Believe is a 2008 sci-fi film directed by Chris Carter. It is the second feature film based on Carter's TV series The X-Files, following the 1998 film. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, will again reprise their respective roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.



The story is one that stands apart from the alien abduction conspiracy story of the television series. Unlike the first film, the plot does not focus on the series' ongoing "mytharc" and instead works as a standalone thriller/horror story, similar to many of the "Monster-of-The-Week" episodes that were frequently seen in the TV series.
